Student Focus Group Meeting
May 6
In April, coaches held focus group meetings with students throughout the district. The different Assessment for Learning practices were discussed. This is what students at Dapp School had to say:
"I get ideas from the exemplars that my teacher shows me in class. It helps me make my work the best it can be."
"I like exemplars. Our teacher shares the different levels of work. We use them in sentence writing."
"Targets keep me on topic."
"Targets tell me what I am supposed to know. They are posted."
"I like rubrics because when I am done my work I can check the rubric and make sure that I have it all covered."
"A rubric is helpful because I forget some stuff and it reminds me what I need to do."
"We use them to figure out which one describes our work. They are useful."
"I like self-assessment because I can check and see if I hit the target."
"A peer can point out things I miss."
"Re-writes help me get a better mark."
"I like re-writes because I can get a better mark. They can be a pain because it is more work to do a re-do and it isn't always fun."
"Re-writes give me a chance to improve."
"We re-do what we don't do well on.."
